Condition guide: how we grade iPhones

Please be honest about your phone. If you tell us it's in fair condition and we discover it's actually in great condition, we'll raise your payout. Yes, really.

And whether you dropped it, sat on it, or woke up one morning to discover a mysterious crack that absolutely nobody in your household knows anything about — we don't need the story. We just need to know what works.

Cosmetic grades (everything works)

  • Excellent — looks close to new; any wear is hard to find
  • Great — light, normal marks you wouldn't notice across a table
  • Good — visible scratches or scuffs on the screen or body
  • Fair — heavy wear, deeper scratches, or small dings

Great, except one little thing

Use this when the phone is in good shape apart from specific problems — cracked glass, a cracked back, a lens, a port, a button. We deduct the estimated repair for each problem instead of downgrading the whole phone.

Cosmetic vs. functional

Cosmetic damage affects how a phone looks (scratches, dents, cracked back glass). Functional damage affects how it works (display lines, touch failure, Face ID, charging, signal). Functional issues usually cost more to fix, and we list each one separately.

What isn't guaranteed

Every offer is confirmed at inspection. A higher payout happens when inspection confirms a higher grade under the same pricing rules — not automatically.
